The Nigerian electricity workers have, this evening, suspended their indefinite strike action that led to a total blackout in some parts of the country.
In an interview with Arise Tv, Comrade Engr. Chika Ben, President General of the Senior Staff Association of Electricity and Allied Workers announced that the union has suspended its planned strike.
Mr. Ben applauded the maturity of the government in resolving the issues that had propelled the strike.
“The issues we raised, I thank the Honorable Minister and the Minister of State for Power for their maturity in handling these issues; the issues could have been tackled earlier on but as we have said, we have been given two weeks to report back and we assure the nation that such crises will he nipped in the board,” Mr. Chika said.
Further asked by the reporter if power will now be restored across the nation, Mr. Ben gave his assurances that power will be supplied within the two weeks of the strike suspension.
