UK-based Fitch Solutions Country Risk and Industry Research has said the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu stands the best chance to win the 2023 presidential election.
It dismissed the chances of the other two major parties beating Tinubu to the presidential seat stating a number of advantages Tinubu and the APC has over them.
According to the research it carried out, the APC is likely to dominate the north once again due to its popularity and strong performance in the region.
It highlighted prominently the outstanding achievements of Tinubu when he was the governor of Lagos State as one of the advantages he has over other candidates.
The research also underpinned the laudable legacies of the APC in the South-West as a factor that will count for them in the polls.
The report reads, “Indeed, we maintain our view that the ruling party’s Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the candidate most likely to win the presidential election as a split opposition vote will favour the All Progressives Congress.
“We expect that the party, which has nominated a Muslim-Muslim ticket, will repeat its strong performance in the North. Given that Tinubu is a former governor of Lagos, the party is also likely to improve on its performance in the South West. Furthermore, we expect Tinubu to benefit from incumbency advantages, with the APC having been in power since 2015.”
