President Muhammadu Buhari will on Wednesday depart for the UK to attend the coronation of King Charles III.
This was disclosed in a statement released by the President’s special adviser on media and publicity, Femi Adeshina.
Ahead of the coronation, the Commonwealth Secretariat will take advantage of the gathering of leaders in London to host a Commonwealth Summit for Presidents and Heads of Government of Commonwealth countries on Friday, May 5,” the statement reads.
While in the UK, the president will also take part in a summit for presidents and heads of government of Commonwealth countries on Friday.
Accompanying the President for Saturday’s Coronation Ceremony are the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha; Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama; Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed; the National Security Adviser, Maj-Gen Babagana Monguno (retd.); the Director General, National Intelligence Agency, Ahmed Abubakar; the Chairperson/Chief Executive Officer of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa and other senior government officials
King Charles ascended the British throne on September 8, 2023, after the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II.
