Supporters of the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi have been left disillusioned after pictures of Obi snoozing in court while the hearing of the petition he brought before the tribunal was underway have gone viral.
Obi could be seen in the picture dozing off in court while proceeding that purportedly seeks to reclaim his self-acclaimed lost mandate in the February 25 presidential election was in hand.
The pictures have since given rise to misgivings of Obi’s conviction that the election was fraught with irregularities as being claimed, and that his recourse to challenging the victory in court was just a face-saving attempt to make his supporters feel good.
Given the weight of the petition, rapt attention in order not to miss details of the hearing was at least expected from the Labour Party flagbearer but supporters of the former Anambra state governor have been left disappointed to find their principal resorting to a nap.
Recall the hearing of petitions seeking to nullify the outcome of 2023 presidential election commenced on Monday.
The court said it would only conduct pre-hearing session on three of the petition, while the remaining two petitions would be heard on Tuesday.
The three petitions the court said it would hear, were the ones the Action Alliance, AA, filed against INEC, that of the All Peoples Party, APP, as well as the petition by Obi and the LP.
While the remaining petitions are the ones filed by the Allied Peoples Movement, APM, and Atiku of the PDP.
Meanwhile, at the pre-hearing session on Monday, the AA withdrew its petition with no protest from the parties present.
