The National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, has revealed that criminal activities in the country are on the decline.
Ribadu said this in a meeting involving the newly appointed service chiefs and President Bola Tinubu at Aso Villa, Abuja on Monday.
This declaration followed President Tinubu’s emphasis on the imperative conditions for triumphing against terrorism and safeguarding the nation.
Ribadu stressed: “Where we are today, you can see already things are improving in our country.
“If you see the record of crimes and activities of criminals are going down, it will continue to go down.
“We’ll secure this place. Nigerians have seen the quality of the people that are given the opportunity; they are probably some of the best we have and they are not going to fail you; they’ll certainly deliver.”
During the meeting, Tinubu urged the security chiefs to work collaboratively, emphasizing their shared responsibility to execute their mandates successfully.
He acknowledged the nation’s previous challenges with insurgency, kidnapping for ransom, killings by unidentified gunmen, and other crimes and violence that have afflicted Nigeria.
Tinubu assured the service chiefs of his unwavering support towards the elimination of criminal activities in the country.
The meeting was attended by Major-General Christopher Musa, Chief of Defence Staff; Major-General Taoreed Lagbaja, Chief of Army Staff; Rear Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, Chief of Naval Staff; Air Vice Marshal Hassan Abubakar, Chief of Air Staff; Major-General Emmanuel Undiandeye, Chief of Defence Intelligence; and Acting Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
