Former Labour Party gubernatorial candidate in Lagos state, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour has ignited a firestorm of backlash after sharing a misleading image from 2018 to depict the current transportation system in the state.
Reacting to the recent hike in fuel prices, GRV took to Twitter to claim that automobile transportation has now become a luxury in Lagos, accompanying the tweet with a manipulated picture wrongfully attributing the sparse vehicular activity to fuel scarcity.
Called out for joining the spread of fake news and propaganda against the government, an unrepentant GRV rather went on to describe electorates as people who are in love with their chains
Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour wrote, “Engaging people in love with their chains is one of the hardest things to do.”
The tweet by Rhodes-Vivour quickly garnered significant attention on social media, eliciting strong condemnation from many quarters.
