The United States government has lauded the President of Nigeria, Bola Tinubu, for his decisive leadership in addressing the political crisis unfolding in neighboring Niger Republic.
Recall a military junta recently overthrew democratically elected President Mohamed Bazoum.
As the Chairman of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), Tinubu has been at the forefront of denouncing the unconstitutional change of power in Niger.
In Abuja, today, he hosted an extraordinary summit of the regional bloc to discuss the situation in the West African country, as reported by LEADERSHIP.
Furthermore, it has been revealed that the US government has engaged in discussions with Tinubu, both on a bilateral and multilateral level, to collaboratively restore constitutional order in Niger Republic. US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, conveyed this message on Sunday via his verified Twitter handle.
Blinken’s Twitter post read: “Thanked Nigerian President Tinubu for his bold leadership on the crisis in Niger. We discussed bilateral and multilateral efforts to resolve the situation in favor of restoring constitutional order in Niger.”
The acknowledgment from the US government showcases the international recognition of Tinubu’s proactive approach in addressing the crisis, as he continues to pursue diplomatic initiatives and coordination among regional and global partners.
