For twenty years, the Heal The Youth Foundation (HTYF) has been a beacon of hope in Nigeria, championing the cause of youth development and education. With its official registration (CAC/IT/NO 18565), HTYF has dedicated itself to fostering sustainable programs that elevate orphans, women, and the youth.
Guided by a strategic plan, the foundation is on a mission to eradicate poverty, prevent teenage pregnancies, and promote health, all while upholding the values of creativity, accountability, and honesty. HTYF envisions an empowered society where equal opportunities are not just a dream but a reality.
A Journey of Empowerment and Health
Born from the vision of “Having Empowerment For Actual Living” (HEAL), HTYF has been a pivotal force in Nigeria since 2003, battling teenage pregnancies and diseases such as STIs and HIV/AIDS.
Its strategic plan has been the driving force behind initiatives that touch lives in over 433 communities, enhancing well-being and championing human rights, including for those living with disabilities.
With its headquarters in Abuja and branches in Plateau and Bauchi, HTYF maintains a strategic presence that ensures effective program implementation.
Its robust governance structure and proven track record in managing grants from donors like USAID underscore its commitment to legal and financial integrity.
The foundation’s management team and staff are unwavering in their pursuit of positive change and lasting impact.
Nurturing Minds
HTYF has consistently focused on nurturing the mental and emotional health of the youth through a variety of channels, including workshops, counseling, community outreach, online support, university partnerships, and research.
The goal is to educate, empower, and equip individuals with the resources they need for well-being and resilience.
Despite funding challenges, HTYF has remained steadfast in its mission since 2003, empowering vulnerable groups through its Strategic Plan of Action (2019-2023), which was thoughtfully updated in 2020 to address post-COVID realities.
The foundation has embraced diverse income strategies and renewed its commitment to enhancing partnerships, organizational systems, and the health and protection of Nigeria’s vulnerable populations.
Reflecting on a Legacy of Sustainable Impact
As HTYF concludes its Strategic Plan of Action (2019-2023), it stands at a pivotal moment to assess the plan’s effectiveness and shape future strategies for 2024-2028.
Celebrating its 20th anniversary, HTYF reflects on a period marked by both growth and challenges. The HTYF Impact Report is a testament to the organization’s wide-ranging influence on health, economic empowerment, and support for vulnerable groups, in alignment with donor priorities and industry standards.
The review sheds light on HTYF’s reliance on donor funding and underscores the health challenges faced by Nigeria, including high rates of maternal and child mortality and HIV/AIDS.
It also highlights the persistent disparities in health access and quality services, as well as the inadequate response to abuse and violence. The financial barriers confronting women and youth, intensified by the COVID-19 pandemic, have catalyzed HTYF’s strategic reevaluation to ensure enduring support for its beneficiaries.
In line with the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals and Nigerian national strategies, HTYF has tailored its initiatives to address health, nutrition, education, and more.
Its interventions have reached 257 communities across Plateau State, the Federal Capital Territory, and Bauchi State, benefiting 25,563 individuals, nearly half of whom were orphans and vulnerable children, along with their caregivers.
HTYF’s journey is a testament to the power of dedicated service and the impact of strategic philanthropy. As it looks to the future, the foundation remains committed to nurturing the potential of Nigeria’s youth and building a society where every individual has the chance to thrive.
