Lagos and other parts of Nigeria are facing a big fuel shortage. But, MEMAN (Major Energies Marketers Association of Nigeria) is stepping up. They’re getting a huge amount of fuel 300 million liters to be exact! This isn’t just to solve the current problem. They’re also planning ahead to make sure there’s enough fuel for everyone in the future.
MEMAN is made up of big companies. They’re making sure the fuel gets to where it needs to go. They’re using eight big ships in Lagos to do this.
The boss of MEMAN, Mr. Huub Stokman, thinks they can fix the fuel problem in about two weeks. He says there’s plenty of fuel ready to be sent out.
MEMAN is working with its companies to make sure their fuel stations have enough fuel. They’re even keeping the stations open longer, even on holidays.
MEMAN is also working with other groups to help fix the fuel problem faster. They’re getting help from the NMDPRA (Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority), NARTO (National Association of Road Transport Owners), and PTD (Petroleum Tanker Drivers).
MEMAN is also giving extra fuel to independent sellers. This should help make fuel more available and reduce the long lines at the stations.
Mr. Stokman says things should start getting better soon. With everyone working together, they hope to make sure there’s enough fuel for everyone.
