Nigeria’s president-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has kicked against move to consolidate three pending petitions challenging his victory at the tribunal. Tinubu, the standard bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was declared the February 25 presidential poll winner with 8,794,726 votes. Aggrieved by the outcome, the Peoples Democratic Pary (PDP) and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and Peter Obi, candidate of the Labour Party (LP), are challenging Tinubu’s victory. The Supreme Court has adjourned till May 26 to deliver judgment in a suit by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) seeking the disqualification of President-elect, Sen. Bola Tinubu and Kassim Shettima, the vice-president-elect. The Presidential Election Petition Court, PEPC, sitting in Abuja, has declined request to allow its day-to-day proceedings on petitions seeking to nullify the outcome of the 2023 presidential election, to be televised. The Justice Haruna Tsammani-led five member panel dismissed as lacking in merit, the application which was brought before it by the two major candidates that are challenging the outcome of the presidential election that held on February 25. Tinubu was received at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja by a host of APC chieftains.
