In an effort to restore academic activities, The Academic Staff Union of Universities(ASUU) Ekiti State University chapter has called off the ongoing strike and ordered resumption of Staff and students.
According to a circular released by the Registrar, Ife Oluwole, the decision was made at stakeholders meeting held on 21st August 2022 to review the situation in the University leading to the decision that school should resume Monday 29th August 2022.
At the meeting, it was noted that the strike had brought serious socio-economic repercussions for Staff, Students, parents, Alumni and other stakeholders. It was particularly noted that the strike had brought dire consequences including; undue prolongation of Academic Calendar,low patronage of students seeking admission to the University, financial challenges for Staff amongst other issues.
Consequently, after long deliberations it was unanimously agreed that the University should ve reopened without further delay for the continuation of Academic activities.
In the same vein, ASUU Chairman Prof Olu Olu in chat with EKSU press stated that the union has decided to suspend the strike out of her passion for the students of Eksu and in other to enhance development in Eksu.
He stressed further that their salaries have been paid to some extent and while they are expecting the remaining payment,they have decided to suspend the ongoing strike.
