The presidential candidate of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has affirmed his continued support of President Muhammadu Buhari in light of his recent, widely-acclaimed comments on the difficulty around the currency redesign and its circulation, as well as the possible causes of the fuel scarcity experienced in parts of the country.
The opposition attempted a spin on his comments, portraying them as evidence of conflict between him and the president. But Tinubu has faulted the interpretation, reiterating his unalloyed support of the president, particularly his administrative achievements, including in the areas of infrastructure and public probity.
He made this known in Gusau, Zamfara State, while addressing a multitude of APC supporters at a rally on Saturday.
He said: “I have supported President Buhari even before his first day in office. I will continue to be his supporter and friend after his last day in office.”
“He tackled the problems other leaders ran from. He has earned a place in history that cannot be denied.”
“I have said this before and will say it again now: when the true history of this moment is written, President Buhari shall be treated very kindly because of his contributions to the nation.”
