Devotees of Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party who came third in the last election, are unrelenting in their plot to cause violence in parts of the country tomorrow if the presidential tribunal dismisses Obi’s challenge of the election’s outcome, as it is widely expected to owing to the petition’s lack of substance.
Despite the DSS’s warning against politically-motivated violent protests aimed at fomenting national unrest, Obi’s supporters are openly encouraging revolt, including on Twitter where they are mobilizing to occupy sensitive national institutions to carry out disruptive and destructive actions if the PEPT judgement does not go their way.
This follows weeks of calling for a coup in the country, similar to what occurred in Gabon and Niger where sections of the army seized power from the elected government.
Meanwhile, Peter Obi, the candidate on whose behalf these rogue elements are plotting to undermine the judiciary and throw the country into chaos, has chosen the comfort of silence, prompting allegations that he supports the subversive actions.
