The Osun State Government have been called out today by applicants of the state’s teachers recruitment exercise. This call-out came on the back of the state’s failure to hold the CBT exams for applicants which was scheduled for today.
The backlash came after each applicant were made to pay #2000 for registration.
Visibly angry applicants were sighted in their large numbers across various centers in the State as they complained of state government’s poor treatment and lack of organization.
Many of the applicants at the Elerinmosa Center, Uniosun Center and other centers who falls within the Batch 1 complained of not being able to write the exams slated for 8am and 11am as they were forced to wait till 3pm, stranded, hungry and frustrated.
PodiumReporters gathered that the same ugly situation played out at other centers in Ede, Ikire and Ile-Ife as there was no government official on ground to address the situation.
An applicant who spoke on the condition of anonymity lamented “people have been here since 7am, were we told that the servers are down and it’s a technical fault from Osogbo. Are they not aware that the exams would come up today? The money we paid should have been used for logistics and other things that would make this exercise a success. This shows the state’s ministry of education is not coordinated neither does it have the capacity to organize a fair and credible recruitment exercise.
Another applicant who claimed to have been engaged by the previous administration but maliciously sacked by the Adeleke administration upon assumption into office accused the government of bias and favouritism as he alleged that the exercise is a mere formality to recruit members of the ruling party into the states teaching service.
Around 4pm, it was learnt that officials at the Uniosun Center were seen rounding up for the day, this resulted into a pandemonium as applicants protested the officials unpatriotic actions and called for a refund of registration fees.
A release last Friday by M.A.K. Jimoh, the Permanent Secretary, state Ministry of Education, had noted that the exams would start by 8am prompt but the situation on Wednesday proved the state government had lied.
He had said, “This is to inform the General Public, particularly applicants for the ongoing Osun State Teacher’s Recruitment Exercise that the CBT examination will hold between Wednesday 27th and Thursday 28th March, 2024 at different Uniosun designated Centers.
“Applicants are also advised to come to their designated with the printed examination slip. All exams starts by 8am prompt each day.”
