Federal Government has allayed fears of health workers, lecturers and other federal workers following a 40 per cent pay rise for core civil servants in the country. The Minister of Labour and Employment Chris Ngige said pay rise for doctors, health workers, lecturers and others who are not on the Consolidated Public Service Salary Structure (CONPSS), have been captured in the 2023 budget. Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has made a call for a review of civil servants’ retirement age and years of service in the entire public service to 65. The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN has indicated that more newly redesigned banknotes will be in circulation soon. Nigerians have been concerned over the scarcity of redesigned banknotes of N200, N500 and N1,000 especially after the Supreme Court judgement reinstating the use of the old notes. The CBN, in a statement on Sunday in Abuja, said it is “taking delivery of a good quantity of the redesigned bank notes from the Nigerian Security Printing and Minting Company (NSPMC) Limited”. Ag.
