Yoruba Nation activist, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly called Sunday Igboho, has made a public appeal for forgiveness and assistance from the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, over his current legal and financial troubles.
During a visit to the Ooni’s palace in Ile-Ife on Saturday, Igboho—who has been on the Federal Government wanted list since 2021 after being accused by the Department of State Services (DSS) of illegal arms stockpiling—said he regretted past verbal confrontations with the monarch.
He pleaded, “I want you to forgive and forget whatever wrong I have done to you. You are my father and you can’t do away with me. I am here to further seek your help as you have been doing before.”
According to Igboho, his accounts remain frozen, making life difficult for him and his family. He urged the Ooni to intervene with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to ensure the embargo is lifted and his name removed from the wanted persons’ list.
The activist further stressed his readiness to collaborate with security stakeholders to address insecurity in the South-West. He promised to lead efforts to rid forests of kidnappers and bandits threatening peace in Yorubaland.
In response, Ooni Ogunwusi reassured him of forgiveness and support, saying Igboho’s struggle represents the collective desire of Yoruba people for peace and safety.
The monarch stated, “You are a brave man and our pride in Yorubaland. We are going to ensure that your name is removed from the wanted list. Let’s do away with fighting; it will not bring any good development to Yorubaland.”
