In a groundbreaking moment for both football and music, Nigerian singer Temilade Openiyi, professionally known as Tems, will headline the inaugural halftime show at the FIFA Club World Cup final. Scheduled for July 13, 2025, at New York’s MetLife Stadium, this event marks the first time FIFA has incorporated a halftime performance into its competition.
Tems will be joined by international music heavyweights J Balvin from Colombia and American pop sensation Doja Cat, creating a dynamic and culturally rich lineup that spans three continents. The halftime show, produced by Global Citizen, will be streamed live and free of charge on DAZN.com, ensuring global accessibility for fans.
Tems shared her excitement about the performance and its broader purpose: “We’re going to bring the world together for a beautiful moment to celebrate football, feel the unity that music brings, and improve the lives of millions of children through the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund. I can’t wait. See you at the FIFA Club World Cup final!”
Confirming the news, Muyiwa Awoniyi, part of Tems’ management, expressed pride in the achievement and gratitude toward FIFA and Global Citizen. “Pleased to announce that @temsbaby will be performing at the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 on Sunday 13th July 2025 at the Metlife Stadium. A huge thank you to FIFA President Gianni Infantino and Global Citizen Co-Founder and CEO Hugh Evans. This is the first-ever halftime show in a FIFA competition and we are proud and honoured to be a part of it.”
The halftime show is also a philanthropic effort aimed at raising funds for education. Global Citizen aims to raise over $100 million for the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, which supports education initiatives and FIFA’s Football for Schools program in over 200 countries. Moreover, $1 from every ticket sold for the FIFA Club World Cup matches in the US will contribute to this fund.
Global Citizen highlighted the event’s significance: “The FIFA Club World Cup Final will feature a live halftime show produced by Global Citizen. With performances from artists across Africa, South America, and North America, this event reflects Global Citizen’s core belief: that music and unity can help solve the world’s greatest challenges.”
Anticipated to be the largest global club football tournament ever, the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup will draw millions of viewers worldwide, with Tems’ performance adding a historic cultural milestone to the event.
