The crisis dividing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has continued to fester as aggrieved governors of the party who are referred to as G5 on Friday jetted out to Spain for a crucial meeting.
Sources confirmed that the governors departed the country for Madrid on Friday night after the Rivers Governor fired more allegations on the party Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu.
Those on board with Wike are Governors Seyi Makinde (Oyo); Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia) and Samuel Ortom (Benue) with the Enugu State governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi likely to join subsequently.
Wike, during a media chat in Port Harcourt on Friday, laid more allegations on Ayu affirming that the national chairman lacked the integrity to lead the party’s campaign for 2023.
He threatened to expose the sins of Ayu which he described as grievous such that if exposed could lead to the children of party’s national chairman disowning him.
The G5 has been calling for the resignation of Ayu as their condition to be part of the presidential campaign council of the party’s Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
According to the aggrieved Governors, it is unfair for the party to have the national chairman and presidential candidate from the northern extraction ahead of the poll.
The G5 also missed the party’s presidential campaign launch in Uyo which has since destabilized the party’s continuance of their campaign activities as internal wranglings fester beyond resolution.
