The All Progressives Congress (APC) has resolved to back the north-central region of the country to claim the position of Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and the party’s chairmanship in a bid to ensure regional equality and inclusion.
This was as the party announced its zoning formula of the leadership of the National Assembly which ceded the Senate Presidency to the South-South region and the Deputy Senate President to the North West region. Conversely, the North West will be getting the Speakership position, with the Deputy Speaker going to the South East.
By zoning the high offices of the SGF and party chairmanship to the North Central, the party, under the new leadership of the president-elect, is reportedly living up to its promise to ensure balance in government representation amongst the six geo-political zones of the country.
