Thousands of young Nigerians from across the country and of different political persuasions are set to storm the Velodrome of the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja to take part in the Renewed Hope Unity Concert staged by the Seyi Tinubu-led APC Youth Wing.
Footfalls have risen dramatically in Abuja since Tuesday with delegates from all over the country arriving in the Federal Capital Territory.
They are joined by other young Nigerians in the diaspora whose trip back home to witness Bola Tinubu’s assumption of office represents a further demonstration of their complete faith in his capacity to turn the country around.
Attendees at the event, numbering over eight thousand according to accreditation figures, will be partying with major headliners such as Asake, Olamide, Brymo and many others.
The invite-only event themed “Better Together” was reportedly oversubscribed from early Wednesday by young Nigerians across political lines, marking the great success of the unification objective of the concert as conceived by Seyi Tinubu with support from Kashim Shettima Jr and APC Youth Leader, Dayo Israel.
Olusegun Dada, a prolific youth mobilizer and prominent voice in the APC Youth Wing, also played a key role in the organization of the event. He served as the Secretary of the Organizing Committee responsible for tasks assignment, coordination and execution.
The oldest son of the President-Elect spearheaded the concert as part of efforts to rally young Nigerians, who account for the largest share of the country’s population, behind the incoming administration.
Seyi already achieved a similar aim during the electoral campaign, having helped mobilise millions of youth votes with targeted campaigns and unprecedented grassroots engagement efforts.
The President-Elect and the Vice President-Elect will lead the cast of high-profile political leaders at the event, with governors and other prominent state and private officials also expected to attend.
According to Ademuyiwa Adebola, the Chairman of the Media Committee for the concert, the large turnout is “proof that young Nigerians overwhelmingly voted for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the elections and are ready to back his administration.”
He continued that “even those who for various reasons may not have supported his candidature, their significant participation at this celebratory concert shows that they are ready to set politics aside and embrace their patriotic duties as citizens through support for the President and active contributions to his success.”
He said the Organizing Committee, chaired by Seyi Tinubu, had put all in place to ensure that attendees have great fun at the event and be in the right mood for the swearing-in that will take place on Monday.
“We have successfully put people in hotels; our accreditation process has been seamless despite the spectacular attendance figures; we have a world-class stage ready to be graced by world-class artists; security is top-notch; the entire city has roared even louder to life with youth energy and enthusiasm because of the event,” he added.
Noting the availability of food, security and emergency plans, he however urged participants to celebrate responsibly and refrain from actions that may cause harm to self or others at the event.
