Clips showing Kate Henshaw warmly greeting the Lagos Governor, Babajide Sanwoolu, at a recent event has earned her the ire of some Nigerians.
Henshaw, an actor cum politician, was bitterly opposed to the APC in the last elections. In one of her online rants, she berated supporters of the party and Governor Sanwoolu, who won re-election for another term, as ‘slaves’.
Her critics have slammed her for exhibiting the same ‘slavish’ traits after jostling to gain the governor’s attention and secure a handshake at a social event they both attended recently.
In one of the clips that showed the encounter, Henshaw appeared desperate to gain physical contact with the Governor and looked visibly pleased when he gave her a photo opportunity with a handshake.
Sources claim that the encounter was indicative of Kate Henshaw’s fresh plot to establish political ties with the All Progressives Congress (APC), despite her bitter electoral opposition.
This was frowned at by many, including supporters of Peter Obi of the Labour Party, who criticised Henshaw for being fickle and unprincipled.
“Kate Henshaw is hustling for attention and possible engagements. She regrets her actions during the election as a costly political mistake and is trying to right the wrong by reaching out to the governing party, beginning in Lagos,” a source said.
“The online attention this has generated must have embarrassed her greatly but it is unlikely to deter her. Like so many other Obi-dients, she is moving on from the election and embracing the reality of the Tinubu-administration,” the source concluded.
