The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic, Osun State Polytechnic, Iree chapter has suspended academic activities indefinitely over the suspension of the Institution Rector, Dr. Tajudeen Odetayo.
The union described the suspension as an aberration against the constitution of the institution.
The Chairman of the union, Dr. Fatai Afolabi declared the suspension of the academic activities indefinitely on Tuesday.
It will be recalled that Governor Adeleke, in a letter signed by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry of Education, had suspended the Rector of the institution, Dr Tajudeen Odetayo on grounds of corruption and gross abuse of office.
Podium reporters gathered that Mr. Alabi Kehinde, a masters degree holder has since been appointed as Acting Rector pending when investigations will be concluded.
Several reactions has however trailed the decision of the state governor with many accusing him of suspending the rector and appointing a new one without following stipulated guidelines.

Protests broke out in the institution on Tuesday morning as activities in the school were grounded by aggrieved staff and students of the school who believed the suspension of Dr Tajudeen was uncalled for. This was complicated by claims that the new Acting Rector is an indigene of Ede, the same town as the incumbent governor who has been severally accused of nepotism since he was sworn in.
More details will be available to us as we keep monitoring events as they happen in the institution.
