Peter Obi and Labour Party have boosted their ‘legal team’ with fiction writer Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie who appeared in the presidential election petition court on Tuesday for the party’s ‘sinking’ bid to challenge the victory of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
It will be recalled this comes just days after their final written address to the election tribunal was described as mere fiction, having been found to be void of a single evidence to corroborate their arguments against the victory of Tinubu.
Reputed for her fiction writing prowess, Chimamanda, who had been a cryptic supporter of the Obi-Datti campaign, appeared to have been tapped by Obi and party chieftains to contribute her fictional storytelling skills to their fiction-ridden petition that had repeatedly in the past being criticized by the tribunal for being a time-wasting effort.
It will also symbolic to note that Chimamanda, had in the past, single-handedly challenged the victory of Tinubu with an open letter to US President Joe Biden — one which came down with heavy criticisms for being an extension of the writer’s fictional works.
