Peter Obi supporters popularly known as Obidients have taken to social media to express their discontent with Labour Party Chairman Julius Abure.
They voiced their opposition to any attempts at candidate imposition and emphasized their commitment to upholding the party’s democratic values.
Labour Party Chairman Julius Abure, accompanied by several members of the National Working Committee (NWC), received Hon. Lucky Ehis Obiyan at the LP headquarters.
Obiyan expressed his interest in utilizing the party’s platform to contest the 2024 Edo State governorship.
One prominent party member, FS Yusuf, who is also a member of the #ObiDatti Presidential Campaign, questioned the presence of Chairman Julius Abure at the expression of interest event.
Yusuf believed that Abure’s attendance seemingly signaled a subtle endorsement of a specific aspirant, while other hardworking aspirants who dedicated their time, resources, and energy to the party during the presidential election struggled to gain equal access for their own interests in the race.
The critics found this situation to be unacceptable, as it undermined the principle of fair competition within the party. They firmly declared that such actions must not compromise the party’s internal democracy, and asserted their vigilance against any attempts by a select few to exploit their movement for personal gain.
