I listened, most laboriously I must admit, to the speech of the Labour Party Presidential candidate in the 2023 presidential election, Mr. Peter Obi during what I have decided to describe as a ‘Beer Parlour Press Conference’ and I saw a man who has found it extremely difficult to accept the reality that he lost the 2023 presidential election and simply wants to continue dancing even when the sound of music has ceased.
Mr. Peter Obi, obviously taking a cue from his ‘elder brother’ and PDP candidate Alhaji Atiku (or Siddiq/Sadiq) Abubakar assembled local journalists to continue the certificate fishing expedition that has so far yielded nothing other than frustration and anguish for the expeditioners. Mr. Peter Obi regurgitated the now boring refrain of alleged certificate forgery, bizzare identity theft, citizenship, academic trail, family history and other mundane topics. He then asked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) to reintroduce himself to Nigerians and to the international community. This is obviously the dying kick of a drowning horse.
Let me remind Mr. Peter Obi in case the post election loss trauma has affected his memory cells that the All Progressives Congress presented the man Nigerians have come to know as Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu since the 1990s when he entered the political terrain. The good people of Lagos West Senatorial District elected him as their Senator in 1992 as Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In 1998, the entire Lagos State elected him as their first Executive Governor in the fourth Republic as Bola Ahmed Tinubu. They re-elected him as Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Between 2007 and 2015, Bola Ahmed Tinubu remained Bola Ahmed Tinubu and helped enthrone an opposition party, APC as the ruling party. Between 2015 and 2022, Bola Ahmed Tinubu remained Bola Ahmed Tinubu. At the 2022 APC primary he presented himself for APC primary election as Bola Ahmed Tinubu and won decisively. His name and particulars was submitted to INEC as Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
As APC candidate, he went around the 36 states of the federation and the FCT as Bola Ahmed Tinubu, sold his Renewed Hope manifesto to the people and begged them to vote for him. On February 25th, 2023, 8,794,726 Nigerians went to the 176,846 polling units across the country to vote for the man they have known as Bola Ahmed Tinubu to become the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. I therefore find it hard to understand where Mr. Peter Obi got the notion that the identity of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is in any form of doubt, which now warrants him to re-introduce himself to Nigerians.
I really think Mr. Peter Obi needs a psychological evaluation at least for the sake of his family because he is displaying symptoms of someone who knows that his political journey is over but still refuses to accept the reality and is now clinging at any straw no matter how ridiculous it may be to stay relevant. Obi and others had the opportunity to include anything they want to contest about President Bola Ahmed Tinubu including his name, identity, gender, academic records, NYSC history etc in their petition to the PEPC but they did not, rather they focused on IREV portal, 25% in the FCT and other hollow arguments, which the PEPC struck out without exception.
When their IREV kite could not fly before the PEPC, they decided to journey back in time to start a genealogical trace of the origin and life history of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. It is only a mad man that can understand how the mother of President Bola Tinubu, gender, classmates and other items Obi listed has any bearing whatsoever to his case in court. At this rate I wouldn’t be surprised if Peter Obi demands that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu also calls another World Press Conference where he will strip naked so that Nigerians and the international community will be convinced that they are dealing with a male Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Peter Obi has really mastered the art of creating an Illusion and forcing that alternate reality into the empty skull of his supporters, who regardless of how stupid that alternate reality may be, do not even have basic ability to question it since they have lost their ability to reason. It is Peter Obi and his unthinking mob that are Nigeria’s greatest embarrassment today. They are the ones giving Nigeria any bad name anyone feels we are getting in the comity of nations.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is no longer campaigning to be President neither is he an unknown figure who needs to reintroduce himself to those who have already elected him to govern. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is also not jobless like Mr. Peter Obi and the serial election loser, Siddiq Abubakar, therefore, he does not have the luxury of time to indulge in a nursery school game of ‘composition about myself’.
That notwithstanding, since Mr. Peter Obi seems not to recognise who President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is even after he repeatedly called him Chief Bola Ahmed Tinubu and wants a reintroduction, let me help him with the reintroduction:
My dear Obi, meet Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Adekunle Tinubu, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. An exceptionally brilliant product of the Chicago State University in the United States of America, who was one of their most recruited graduates in 1979 due to his exceptional academic records. He boasts of 18A’s, 11B’s and 3C’s from the Chicago State University – something that you can only achieve in another world.
He worked in reputable global private firms including Arthur Andersen, Deloitte, GTE Services Corporation and Mobil where he rose to the post of a top executive. He joined politics in 1991, won his first election in 1992 under SDP and became a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria at 40 years of age. He was set to be the Senate President but stepped down his ambition to help the presidential aspiration of MKO Abiola.
After the June 12 annulment, Bola Ahmed Tinubu fought the military from the trenches alongside many pro-democracy activists, escaped assassination, had his house bombed by the military, went on exile from where he continued the fight for democracy. In 1999 he was elected Governor of Lagos State, the most complex state in Nigeria under the platform of Alliance for Democracy. He revamped Lagos State and made it a model many states, including your state, copy from.
Bola Ahmed Tinubu fought to entrench fiscal federalism in Nigeria and created a vibrant opposition to the ruling PDP. He led series of negotiations until a formidable political alliance was formed in 2013. Bola Ahmed Tinubu helped to unseat an incumbent President in Nigeria for the first time in our history. He helped the new ruling party retain power in 2019 defeating your former party, yourself and Atiku (Siddiq) Abubakar.
In 2023, against all odds and in spite of your religious war and campaign of calumny, the man Bola Ahmed Adekunle Tinubu defeated you, your former ally Siddiq Abubakar and 15 others to become the 16th President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. My dear Peter Obi, this is the identity of who the world and Nigerians have always known as Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
You can now stop crying!
