Usman Ododo, the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State, has been declared the winner of the Kogi state governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Ododo polled 446,237 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Murtala Ajaka of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), who came second with 259,052 votes. Dino Melaye, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), scored 46,362 votes to come a distant third.
Ododo won in 13 out of the 21 local government areas in the state while SDP’s Murtala Ajaka won 8 local government areas. Dino Melaye of the PDP did not win any local government area.
