BREAKING: Tinubu withdraws Onwudiwe’s CBN nomination over past support for LP
President Bola Tinubu has stepped down the nomination of Dr. Ruby Onwudiwe, a self-professed ‘Obidient’, as a member of the Board of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) following the resistance from supporters of the All Progressives Congress to her nomination.
Immediately after the news of her nomination filtered in, screenshots of her past social media posts on X surfaced where she flaunted her support for the Labour Party (LP) and its Presidential candidate, Peter Obi in the 2023 presidential election. In one of the posts, Dr. Onwudiwe displayed the result of the presidential election at a polling unit in Lekki part of Lagos where the LP candidate won.
Dr. Ruby Onwudiwe, who was earlier nominated to take up the vacant South East position on the Board of the Central Bank of Nigeria, already had her name forwarded to the Senate by President Bola Tinubu for confirmation.
