After years of terrorizing the North West region of Nigeria, the infamous bandit leader, Dogo Gide, has been neutralized by troops engaged in anti-kidnapping and anti-banditry operations. Dogo Gide, known for his acts of kidnapping, murder, and large-scale destruction, met his end in an encounter with the forces of Operation Hadarin Daji in Shiroro, Niger State.
Dogo Gide’s reign of terror included the abduction of over one hundred pupils and teachers from the Federal Government College, Birnin Yauri, Kebbi State, in June 2021, and the downing of a Nigerian Air Force helicopter in Niger State in 2023. His criminal activities led to the death and displacement of thousands, leaving a trail of suffering and chaos.
In a fierce battle on October 30, 2023, Gide narrowly escaped death when Nigerian troops stormed his stronghold in Zamfara State. The operation led to the recovery of a tailoring factory for sewing military uniforms, Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), and a mini pharmacy used for treating wounded gang members.
Despite conflicting reports about his final days, the consensus is clear: Dogo Gide, the terrorist who once cast a shadow of fear across the northwest and north-central states of Nigeria, will never walk the earth again. His elimination marks a significant victory for the Nigerian security forces and a hopeful turn towards peace and stability in the region.”
