The Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 presidential election and former governor of Anambra state, Mr. Peter Obi has accused the Nigerian judiciary, especially judges of giving favourable judgements to the highest bidder. He lamented that justice in Nigeria is commodified.
Mr. Peter Obi made this damning assessment of the judiciary and judicial officers while delivering a Keynote Speech at the 5th Memorial Lecture of Justice Anthony Nnaemeka Aniagolu that held at the Godfrey Okoye University, Enugu. Obi spoke on the topic: “The Role of the Judiciary in Shaping Nigeria’s Future.”
Mr. Peter Obi who is a beneficiary of a couple of landmark judgment by the judiciary during his quest to reclaim and retain his electoral mandate as Anambra State Governor between 2006 and 2011 by his latest assessment of the judiciary is invariably insinuating that he got justice from the judiciary because he was the highest bidder in the various cases where he emerged victorious.
The Labour Party chieftain and his Obidient support base has been very critical of the judiciary since the courts threw out the petition of Mr. Peter Obi challenging the declaration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as winner of the 2023 presidential election.
