The All Progressives Congress (APC) has commiserated with the government and people of Vietnam over the death of an iconic political leader, Nguyen Phu Trong.
This message of condolence is contained in a press release signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka.
The APC said that until his passing, Nguyen Phu Trong was the Secretary General of the ruling Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and described him as a revolutionary leader who devoted his intellect and other resources to the cause of national liberation and reunification.
Morka said, “Nguyen Phu Trong was pivotal to achieving independence for Vietnam. He was also in the vanguard in the fight against corruption and other vices.”
“He was a bridge builder for development, peace and international cooperation. At the Party level, he contributed immensely to building the Communist Party of Vietnam, especially the Party building and rectification. His passing, considered a colossal loss to both Vietnam and the international community, marks the end of an era.
“Our prayers and thoughts are with his family, government and people of Vietnam at this difficult time. We urge the nation of Vietnam to be consoled by the exemplary life and enduring legacies of this rare sage”, the APC Spokesman stated.
