Babafemi Ojudu, a former Special Adviser on Political Matters to immediate past Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo has described his former boss President Muhammadu Buhari as one who is not a visionary.
Ojudu disclosed this on Monday while featuring on a podcast by veteran journalist Edmund Obilo, State Affairs. He was responding to a question on why former President Buhari didn’t back his deputy’s presidential ambition.
“I think Buhari wasn’t a visionary. I was a very big admirer of Buhari because of what I saw in his first term and because of his attitude, pattern, and lifestyle”, Ojudu said.
“But coming up close, I didn’t see much of vision; it’s unfortunate, I’m saying [this]. He is a patriot of Nigeria and he’s incorruptible. Take it from me, his needs are few. Those are good qualities but they are not enough when you are a leader. You have to design good vision and that’s what makes us celebrate Awolowo today; he was a visionary.”
Babafemi Ojudu also said in the interview that President Bola Tinubu is not the best person to be president of Nigeria at this time noting that Nigeria would have been “going places” if Yemi Osinbajo were to be president currently.
On whether Osinbajo will contest for the presidency again, the former Political Adviser stated that he is not sure if the former Vice President will want to go through the rigors of a presidential race again.
