The Federal Government has taken a pivotal step in youth engagement by launching the official digital portal for the forthcoming Nigeria Youth Conference, also known as the National Youth Confab. This platform aims to bring young Nigerians into the heart of policy dialogue and national development.
Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, announced the launch on Monday, describing the initiative as “more than just a conference,” and calling it “a generational turning point, a national movement, and a call to action.”
The Youth Confab was first announced by President Bola Tinubu during his Independence Day broadcast on October 1, 2024. Originally planned for February 2025, the event’s framework was solidified when Tinubu inaugurated a 44-member Planning Committee on March 10 at the State House in Abuja.
Olawande revealed the conference theme, “Next Gen Nigeria: Crafting Solutions, Owning the Future,” emphasizing its “inclusive, non-partisan and youth-led” character.
The portal will allow delegates to register, share ideas, and receive updates in real time. The confab’s design involves multiple layers of participation, including young Nigerians in the diaspora, consultations across all 360 Federal constituencies, zonal meetings in six states, and a culminating National Conference in Abuja to harmonize all recommendations.
This initiative represents a bold step toward harnessing the energy and creativity of Nigeria’s youth for the country’s future development.
