The incident was confirmed in a statement issued by Sani Danjuma Suleiman, spokesperson for the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education. According to the statement, Commissioner Hajiya Zainab Musawa is deeply saddened by the event.
The official statement reads: “With profound sorrow and complete submission to the will of Almighty Allah (S.W.T), the Katsina State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education announces the devastating impact of a severe storm that struck the Funtua Senatorial Zone on the evening of June 22, 2025. The storm caused significant damage to school infrastructure and staff quarters across multiple educational institutions in the affected area.”
The Ministry has conveyed its sympathy to those affected and assured them of ongoing support. Commissioner Musawa has called for resilience among school administrators, urging them to continue academic activities and ensure student attendance remains uninterrupted.
