In a bold move to reshape Nigeria’s political landscape, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has vowed to resist any attempts at election rigging in the upcoming 2027 general elections. Speaking after a meeting with key Gombe State leaders, Atiku reaffirmed his commitment to leading the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as a vehicle for genuine change.
Atiku’s statement came as a response to the ongoing economic difficulties faced by Nigerians, which he attributes to decades of corrupt and ineffective leadership. “Enough is enough,” he declared. “Nigerians cannot continue to suffer in the midst of abundant resources. The time has come to stand against the stealing of elections and reject the cycle of poor leadership.”
He further stressed that the coalition of opposition forces under ADC is poised to bring about meaningful transformation, guided by principles of honesty and accountability. “The quality of the interim leadership of the ADC is a clear indication that we are prepared to offer Nigerians a credible alternative. We will restore confidence in governance and deliver the kind of leadership that truly serves the people,” Atiku stated.
The former vice president expressed gratitude to the Gombe delegation for their steadfast loyalty and support, noting that such alliances strengthen the party’s grassroots influence. He reminisced about his past political collaboration in Gombe, which continues to inspire his current efforts. “The stakeholders reminded me of the foundation we laid in Gombe when I supported the emergence of Danjuma Goje as governor in 2003. That gesture continues to resonate today, and I am proud of the progress we can achieve together once again,” he concluded.
