On August 16, 2025, Dada Olusegun, Special Assistant to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Social Media, announced a significant educational intervention aimed at improving primary schools in Ikorodu. The announcement, made via X (formerly Twitter), is part of Olusegun’s birthday celebrations and serves as a tribute to his late mother, who was a lifelong dedicated teacher.
In his post, Olusegun stated, “As part of my birthday celebrations this year, and in honor of my late mother a lifelong, dedicated teacher, I am pleased to announce the release of crucial intervention funds for several primary schools in Ikorodu.” Emphasizing the importance of education in breaking poverty cycles, he added, “When we invest in young learners, we equip them with the tools to break cycles of deprivation and build prosperous lives.”
The intervention aligns with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes human capital development as the foundation for national growth. The allocated funds will be used to address specific needs from schools within Ikorodu, with the aim of improving the learning environment for students and teachers.
The breakdown of the allocations includes:
Temidire Primary School: Procurement of 50 school chairs and tables for selected classes.
Holy Trinity Primary School: Procurement of 50 pairs of school chairs and desks for selected classes.
Anglican Primary School: Rehabilitation of the borehole and procurement of a generating set.
Ijomu Primary School: Rehabilitation of the borehole and procurement of a generating set.
Olusegun described these efforts as “a modest step towards creating classrooms where children can learn in comfort, and teachers can work effectively.”
He further praised the support of local and federal leaders, singling out Jimi Benson for his “tireless support and leadership both locally and at the federal level,” describing him as “a model for us all,” and expressing pride in emulating his example to keep education central to development efforts.
Concluding his message, Olusegun said, “Education is the cornerstone of a strong society, and by supporting our schools, we invest directly in the future of Ikorodu, Lagos, and Nigeria as a whole.”
The announcement received positive responses from the community, with notable figures such as Hamzat Lawal commending the initiative as “fantastic.”
This intervention marks a promising step in local educational development under the broader vision of national progress championed by President Tinubu’s administration.
