There are strong signs that the disagreement between Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of Kogi Central and Senate President Godswill Akpabio has finally been resolved. This follows Natasha’s invitation to Akpabio and other Senators to attend a series of project commissioning events in Kogi State next week.
The letter of invitation, signed by Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan herself, was addressed to all Senators and read out by the Senate President during Thursday’s plenary session.
In the letter, Senator Natasha invited her colleagues to Ihima, Kogi State, on Sunday for the commissioning of constituency projects to mark her second anniversary in the National Assembly.
Part of the letter read, “In marking my second-year anniversary as a serving Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I wish to invite my distinguished colleagues to join me for the commissioning of projects in Kogi State.”
The event will begin at her residence located at Plot 101, Jimoh Akpoti Street, Ihima, Okene, Kogi State. According to the announcement, Senators arriving by air are to land at the Obajana Airstrip before continuing to Ihima by road.
After reading the letter, Senator Akpabio congratulated her, saying, “Congratulations in advance.”
Earlier this year, the relationship between both lawmakers turned sour following a disagreement over seat reallocation in the Senate chamber. The issue led to Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s suspension for six months on March 6, 2025.
Since her return on September 24, she has been active in plenary sessions and has worked closely with the Senate leadership. Last week, she successfully moved an amendment during the debate on the Criminal Code (Amendment) Bill, 2025.
Many observers see her recent invitation to Akpabio and other Senators as a sign that peace has been restored between both leaders.
