A new allegation has emerged from the campaign grounds of the 2025 gubernatorial race in Anambra State, Nigeria, implicating prominent figures in the seemingly mismanaged usage of election funds by the camp of Kingsley Moghalu. According to a post shared by High Chief Okoro on the social-media platform formerly known as Twitter (now X), it is alleged that two key associates — Top Obidients and Jack — were responsible for diverting campaign funds earmarked for media buys and logistic support.
Okoro’s post claims that “the campaign team of Kingsley Moghalu collected large sums for media coverage and logistics,” but that the funds “never reached the independent vendors engaged,” and instead were “channeled through Top Obidients and Jack who oversaw the disbursements.” The post further states: “We have both receipts and internal statements showing the funds were paid — yet the campaign team cannot account for the services.”
Members of Moghalu’s campaign have not yet responded to the allegations at the time of writing. Meanwhile, observers in Anambra’s political circles are raising concerns over the integrity of fund deployment in the lead-up to the polls, questioning whether the alleged mismanagement could affect campaign trust and regulatory compliance.
If substantiated, these claims might trigger scrutiny from Nigeria’s electoral watchdogs — potentially the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and other oversight bodies — especially given the heightened importance of fund transparency in this election cycle. Institutional reactions are still pending.
