The Nigerian Air Force has destroyed a major terrorist base in Sauri camp located in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State during a targeted air mission.
The Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, announced the operation in a statement shared on Saturday. He explained that the airstrikes were carried out on November 14 by the Air Component of Operation FANSAN YAMMA after intelligence and surveillance confirmed heavy terrorist activities in the area.
Ejodame said the terrorists had gathered stolen livestock and were using a high-ground position for protection and logistics. He noted that strike forces launched several coordinated attacks that hit the exact spots where the criminals were positioned. Surviving fighters tried to escape into nearby bushes, but they were tracked and engaged until the area was cleared.
According to him, the mission led to the destruction of structures used by the terrorists while many of them were neutralised during the strike.
He also quoted the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, who restated the commitment of the Air Force to ongoing counterterrorism operations, saying the NAF would “find them, hunt them down, and protect our people.”
The Air Force added that the success of the operation further strengthens efforts to deny terrorists safe places in Zamfara and supports broader plans to restore peace across the North West region.
Earlier on November 10, the NAF had also targeted terrorist and bandit hideouts in Kwara, Borno, Katsina and other northern states, including ISWAP locations in Mallam Fatori and Shuwaram in Borno, as well as bandit camps in Kwara and Katsina.
