Former Vice-President of Nigeria, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has formally converted his long-standing political office in Abuja—previously used as his People’s Democratic Party (PDP) operations hub—into the new national headquarters of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), marking a significant strategic shift within the country’s political landscape.
The office, located in the upscale Wuse 2 district of Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory along Ademola Adetokunbo Crescent, by the popular Diamond Junction, has now been rebranded and unveiled as Atiku’s central base of operations within the ADC. The move signals what insiders describe as Atiku’s firm consolidation of influence within the party structure.
Sources within the ADC confirmed that Atiku personally donated the building to serve as the party’s official national secretariat, a gesture interpreted as both symbolic and tactical ahead of future political realignments.
Political observers say the development underscores the intensifying pace of reorganisations across Nigerian political parties as key figures position themselves for upcoming national contests. The rebranding of the office, which has historically served as a nerve centre for Atiku’s political outreach, is expected to significantly strengthen his operational presence in Abuja.
Meanwhile, supporters at the unveiling event described the move as a clear message to rivals. One senior party official, reacting to the speed of the transformation, remarked informally, “Mikano is not playing,” referencing the rapid turnaround and high-end generators that powered the facility during the ceremony — a phrase now trending among party loyalists to underscore the seriousness of the political shift.
With this repositioning, the ADC is expected to intensify nationwide mobilisation in the weeks ahead as preparations for future political activities gather momentum.
