Digital financial services company LemFi has issued a public clarification distancing itself from Benjamin Kuti, popularly known as Oluomo of Derby, stating that it has no partnership, contractual agreement, or ambassadorial relationship with him.
In a statement released by the company, LemFi said it was responding to public discussions and misconceptions surrounding its engagement within the Nigerian community in the United Kingdom.
“We (LemFi) wish to clarify that we are not in any partnership or contractual agreement with Mr Benjamin Kuti, popularly known as ‘Oluomo of Derby,’” the company said.
LemFi explained that its formal engagement is strictly with the Nigerians in the United Kingdom (NIUK) community, noting that the partnership was established to support Nigerians living in the UK through recognised community structures.
“Our partnership is with the Nigerians in the United Kingdom (NIUK) community. Through this partnership, we have engaged and continue to support the Nigerian community in the United Kingdom,” the statement added.
The company further stressed that while Benjamin Kuti was previously affiliated with the NIUK community, he does not represent LemFi in any official capacity.
“We would like to emphasise that Mr Benjamin Kuti is not a Brand Ambassador for LemFi. He has no individual contract, endorsement deal, or official spokesperson role with our company,” LemFi stated.
According to the firm, its collaboration with NIUK is maintained strictly through the organisation’s recognised and agreed leadership structure and remains independent of any individual’s personal activities or legal standing.
“This partnership was established to serve the Nigerian community in the United Kingdom through the NIUK. It is entirely independent of Mr Benjamin Kuti’s personal activities, leadership, or legal standing,” the statement read.
LemFi also reiterated its commitment to ethical standards, stressing that it operates as a regulated financial institution with zero tolerance for misconduct.
“As a regulated financial institution, we take allegations of ethical or financial misconduct seriously and have zero tolerance for them in any form. Our priority remains the security and trust of our customers,” the company said.
The statement concluded with an assurance that LemFi will continue supporting customer communities globally through verified and official channels.
The clarification was signed by The LemFi Team.
