Former Benue State Governor Gabriel Suswam has formally joined the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nigeria’s governing political party.
Suswam’s move to the APC came on Wednesday, 4 February 2026, about a day after he announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), one of Nigeria’s major opposition parties.
As his first public step in the APC, the former governor completed his membership registration in Mbagber Council Ward in Logo Local Government Area, a local government in Benue State, located in Nigeria’s North Central region.
Suswam had earlier said he was leaving the PDP because of what he described as a prolonged internal crisis within the party.
