Social media influencer Daniel Regha has delivered a scathing takedown of Peter Obi, branding him a “loud hypocrite” for what Regha describes as a series of contradictory and misleading statements in a recent campaign appearance.
In a viral post on X, Regha systematically dismantled Obi’s rhetoric point by point, highlighting alleged inconsistencies between Obi’s current promises and his past record, associations, and political shifts. The critique comes as Obi appears to pivot toward the African Democratic Congress (ADC) after his 2023 Labour Party run.
Regha highlighted the following contradictions in Obi’s remarks:
Obi claimed: “We are introducing a new Nigeria that is possible.”
Regha fired back: “With the corrupt accused ADC members?”
Obi said: “We want Sokoto, Katsina, Zamfara, Kano, to be secure. Anambra, Imo.”
Regha noted Obi conspicuously avoided mentioning any South West or South South states.
Obi declared: “We are trying to do a new politics.”
Regha questioned: “Like they did with LP that has failed Nigerians?”
Obi stated: “Today Nigeria is a country where the highest number where poor people live.”
Regha labeled this “misinformation,” pointing out that South Sudan’s poverty rate exceeds 80%, while Nigeria’s stands at around 12%.
Obi asserted: “Today Nigeria is insecured.”
Regha reminded followers of Obi’s past dealings with Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, who has openly advocated for bandits, asking how Obi could criticize insecurity while having “moved with Gumi despite knowing he advocates for bandits publicly.”
Obi said: “Our children are not in school.”
Regha accused Obi of presiding over a “significant increase” in school fees during his time as Anambra governor.
Obi remarked: “There is no primary healthcare. If common snake bite you ‘na death’.”
Regha claimed Obi failed to build even one public hospital in Onitsha South during his eight-year governorship, while Governor Chukwuma Soludo achieved this in under four years.
Obi stated: “We want to stop people from stealing public money.”
Regha called this ironic given Obi’s alleged ties to a “structure of criminality,” naming figures like Rotimi Amaechi, Atiku Abubakar, and Nasir El-Rufai who face corruption allegations.
Obi said: “We want to generate and distribute electricity.”
Regha challenged any ADC member—including Obi—to show concrete results in this area, and pointed to Obi’s years working closely with former President Goodluck Jonathan without delivering such “brilliance” then.
Obi concluded: “We want competent leadership.”
Regha sarcastically questioned how this could come from the same “structure of criminality.”
Regha capped his post by mocking Obi’s apparent party switch: “Then he concluded with, ‘Please vote for ADC’. It’s no longer LP where a new Nigeria is possible. LMAO.”
The post, which includes a video clip of Obi’s speech, has ignited fierce online debate, with many echoing Regha’s view that Obi’s words ring hollow against his record and current alliances.
