The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has revealed that the complete automation of passport applications will commence on January 8, 2024. The minister said this during an inspection tour of the facilities of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) in Abuja. Last year, the Minister had earlier promised Nigerians that the automation process was nearing completion and that when fully automated, Nigerians would only go to immigration centres for fingerprint capturing. The Supreme Court has reinstated the terrorism charges filed against Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Independent People of Biafra (IPOB) by the federal government. The Court in a judgment it delivered today upheld the Federal Government’s Appeal challenging the verdict of the Appeal Court which had earlier dismissed some of the charges filed against Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
