Supporters of Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 elections, have taken to social media to express their discontent with Pastor William Folorunso Kumuyi, the founder and General Superintendent of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry.
Their grievances stem from the cleric’s recent prayers for the success of Nigeria.
Prominent and influential members of the movement have taken turns denigrating the teachings and legacy of the revered man of God, accusing him of hypocrisy and untruthfulness.
Such criticism has left many Nigerians deeply appalled, particularly considering the reputation of the movement, which is often associated with strong Christian values.
Throughout these events, Obi, by all accounts, has remained silent, failing to address or call his supporters to order amid their gratuitous attack on Pastor Kumuyi.
This has further fueled public dismay and concern, as the Labour Party candidate is yet to make any efforts to rein in his supporters or disassociate himself from their actions.
