In Port Harcourt, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has officially welcomed Senator Magnus Abe and his supporters from all 23 local government areas. Senator Abe, who ran as the Social Democratic Party’s (SDP) candidate in the 2023 Governorship Election, was formally received at the state secretariat in Port Harcourt by the party’s leadership.
Senator Abe had left the APC in July 2022 to secure the SDP’s governorship ticket. After the welcoming event, Chief Tony Okocha, the Caretaker Committee Chairman and party leader in the state, praised Abe’s political skills.
In a statement by his Media Assistant, Amb. Vincent Gbosi, Chief Okocha emphasized that Senator Abe, who has built structures across all 23 local government areas, is a significant political figure. He praised Abe as a hardworking and determined politician who strongly supports President Bola Tinubu.
Chief Okocha commended Abe’s ability to inspire confidence and his determination to fight for his beliefs. He noted that even though Abe did not win with the SDP, his influence in Rivers State is undeniable.
Abe has urged his supporters to merge their structures and work with the Rivers APC under the leadership of Sir (Chief) Tony C. Okocha, the Leader and Chairman of the CTC of the APC in Rivers State.
On May 15, 2024, Senator Abe’s political group held a leadership meeting in Port Harcourt. They resolved to support the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and continue to back President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in improving the lives of Nigerians.
