In a solemn move, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has suspended all political activities for three days to honour the late Muhammadu Buhari, Nigeria’s former president. This suspension reflects the party’s deep respect for Buhari’s contributions to national cohesion and democratic governance.
Senator David Mark, speaking on behalf of the ADC, described Buhari as “a statesman of exceptional character” who demonstrated unwavering patriotism both as a military leader and as a democratically elected president. He emphasized Buhari’s role in safeguarding Nigeria’s unity and advancing democratic principles.
The ADC’s nationwide pause in political engagements serves as a testament to Buhari’s enduring influence on Nigeria’s political landscape. The party also appealed to the Federal Government to commemorate Buhari’s legacy through permanent national symbols or initiatives that embody his values.
The party extended condolences to the Buhari family, the government, and Nigerians, urging all members to uphold dignity and respect throughout the mourning period.
