Recently, the Ipusu Women Association visited Government House in a powerful show of solidarity, pledging unwavering support for Governor Alia’s administration and praising his inclusive approach, especially the appointment of women into key positions. Shortly after, a grassroots political support group declared their loyalty, applauding President Tinubu, his wife, and Governor Alia, and pledging one million votes for him in the 2027 elections. These visits were more than ceremonial; they were living testaments to the unity, trust, and confidence the people of Benue continue to place in his leadership. From the bustling streets of Gboko to the rural heartlands of Ukum, the governor’s vision and hands-on leadership have drawn both praise and pledges of loyalty. Farmers, traders, youth groups, professionals, traditional leaders, and political stakeholders have all testified to one truth: Governor Alia’s governance is people-first, result-driven, and rooted in inclusivity.
Since his swearing-in as Executive Governor of Benue State, Governor Alia has ushered in a new era of accountability and people-focused governance. His tenure has been marked by national recognition, with Leadership Newspaper naming him Governor of the Year in 2023 for his achievements in agriculture, infrastructure, transportation, and salary consistency. He was also honoured with the titles of Democracy Governor of the Year 2024 and Daily Assets Governor of the Year 2023, cementing his reputation as one of Nigeria’s most effective leaders. And his most recent award as the North-Central Governor of the year at the Progressive Digital Media Summit for his significant role in digitalising Benue State’s operations across various sectors is further proof of his commitment to ensuring Benue’s strong position on a global stage.
He has received open endorsements from political heavyweights, including Senator Barnabas Gemade, who commended the governor’s resilience and focus despite political opposition. Both legislative and grassroots validation have followed, as the Benue State House of Assembly publicly commended him for swiftly restoring calm after protests in Ukum LGA, while traders in Gboko voluntarily closed their shops to give him a hero’s welcome during a state visit.
His commitment to responsive governance has been clear. Governor Alia granted financial autonomy to the Legislature and Judiciary, a bold step applauded across the state. He inaugurated judicial panels to investigate past administrations, reinforcing public trust in his fight against corruption. His decisive stance on security included condemning violent herders’ attacks and vowing to fully enforce the anti-open grazing laws, aligning closely with public sentiment.
