The Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday found Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the banned Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), guilty on seven counts of terrorism brought by the Federal Government.
Justice James Omotosho, delivering the judgment, said Kanu was guilty of engaging in acts of terrorism, leading and belonging to a proscribed organization, threatening and killing security personnel, burning properties, concealing items, and importing an unregistered radio transmitter.
The verdict marks a significant moment in the government’s ongoing efforts to address security challenges linked to separatist movements in the country.
Details on sentencing and further proceedings are expected to follow.
