A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has warned that expelled members should not attempt to occupy the party’s National Secretariat or other properties while a related court case is still ongoing.
The warning was contained in a statement released on Friday, 6 February 2026, and signed by Ini Ememobong, National Publicity Secretary of the faction. The group is aligned with Tanimu Turaki, a Nigerian politician associated with one side of the PDP’s internal leadership dispute.
The faction said it had received information that some expelled members intend to gain access to the party’s secretariat, possibly by force or with the support of security operatives.
It said letters have been sent to the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) and the Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, stressing that the secretariat is the subject of litigation before the Federal High Court in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, and also at the Court of Appeal.
The group argued that any attempt to enter the premises while the courts are handling the matter would amount to self-help and could weaken the authority of the judiciary.
It also cautioned the police, noting that law enforcement is listed as a party in the case, and warned that granting access to any person before the suit is determined could be treated as contempt of court.
The faction said it would pursue legal action to protect its assets and added that those it described as aggressors, as well as any security collaborators, should be held responsible for any injuries or damage that may arise from an attempted takeover.
