Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, attended a wedding Fātiḥah for the children of Bello Matawalle on Friday, 6 February 2026.
Bello Matawalle is Nigeria’s Minister of State for Defence, a junior minister in the federal government.
The ceremony took place at the National Mosque in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city.
Also, Tinubu arrived with a large group of senior political figures.

Tinubu’s aide, Dada Olusegun, disclosed the visit in a video shared on X, the social media platform formerly called Twitter.
The post said Tinubu attended the wedding Fātiḥah held at the National Mosque in Abuja.
Meanwhile, photos from the ceremony also circulated online.
Key Officials And Governors Present
Several top officials attended the event.
They included Nigeria’s Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin, a leader in the Senate, the upper chamber of Nigeria’s National Assembly.
Also present was the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (retired).
In addition, governors at the ceremony included Abba Yusuf of Kano State, Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State, and Babagana Zulum of Borno State.
Invitations Went Viral Earlier
The ceremony had already attracted attention before Friday.
This happened after invitation cards for the wedding of nine of Matawalle’s children went viral in January.
The children listed for the mass wedding are Ibrahim, Suraj, Safiya, Maryam, Aisha, Fahad, Muhammad, Nana Firdausi, and Farida.
As a result, many people followed the event closely once the ceremony held in Abuja.
